All things nutrition... what's going in?
My passion for all things nutrition began a few years ago when I started to focus on what I was putting into my body. It used to involve lots of unnecessary sugar and fat, which left me feeling lethargic and unhappy. Getting started can be hard, but if you begin trying to add healthy, unprocessed foods into your diet you will begin to replace those other unhealthy options without even realising it!
Pheebs Foods Blog
My blog is all about healthy alternatives to the overly processed, sugar laden foods we all consume far too much of. As a former sugar addict, the idea that I could still eat the things I love, like caramel slice and chocolate, was a revelation! I’m putting both my nutrition and photography degrees to good use by creating a cookbook so I can teach others and share my passion about how easy it can be to begin eating better and feeling great!.
Ethical Food Production... super important!
We all know about how the foods we eat can impact our health and wellbeing, but sometimes we don’t think too much about how the foods we consume may affect the planet! This is something I have become very passionate about as I learn more about the different industries and the ways in which food is grown and processed.
My partner is pursuing a career in gardening, and both of us hope to one day be able to grow the majority of our food, the ultimate form of ethical food production! Whilst not an achievable goal for everyone, there are definitely small changes everyone can make to try to make a difference! For example buying free range organic eggs means a further reduction in caged egg farming, healthy land and happy chooks. But the real and most important change everyone can make is to buy food which has been sourced ethically, just as Power Super Foods do!
If you start researching you may find that so much of the produce around you may not be produced ethically, or may involve harmful chemicals that would not be found on certified organic produce.
Smoothies have got to be one of the tastiest, easiest and most versatile ways to get in a load of nutrients in one hit, without sacrificing any fibre. Not that you needed any other reason to #jointhesmoothment!
